1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking soda
In a small saucepan heat butter, sugar and buttermilk. After sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the soda and vanilla. Let rest, stirring occasionally. Serve warm with pancakes or waffles.

Blender Wheat Pancakes
Blend:
1 cup whole wheat kernels
1 cup milk
Blend wheat and milk for 3 minutes in blender. Add:
1/2 cup milk
Blend for 2 more minutes. Add:
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup oil
1 T baking powder
2 T sugar
Blend only long enough to combine. Cook on hot griddle. The batter is very thin.

Bea's Sour Dough Biscuits
2 cups S. milk or potato water
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 pkg yeast
Scould milk, add shortening, let cool until luke warm. Add yeast and sugar. Add flour until cake dough consistency. Let rise until double in bulk. Have ready to add to the above mixture:
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 T baking powder
Add flour until not sticky. Beat well. Let rise again. Punch down. Roll out and cut biscuits. Let rise again, about an hour. Then bake. This keeps good in refrigerator. They are delicious. I got from Myrtle Davis in 1964.

Topping
6 T butter
1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon
Boil until thickened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
