1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1/3 cup oil
1 cup cold water
2 yeast cakes
2 T luke warm water
6 cups flour, more or less
Scald milk -add sugar, salt and oil. Stir until dissolved. Add cup cold water, cool until luke warm. Dissolve yeast in 2 T luke warm water and add to first mix. Gradually add flour, mixing to smooth, stiff dough. Knead on lightly floured board. Place in large, greased bowl; cover. let rise in warm place until double in bulk. Punch down and knead again, make into loaves. Put in greased pans and let rise again, until double in size. When you make the loaves cover tops with melted butter.
Bake 50 or 60 minutes start at 325 degrees last 20 minutes 375.
